Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to directly synchronize the Samsung health application with Propulsion. We are currently working on this integration and it should be available soon.
Alternatives
To use the Google Fit app with a Samsung Galaxy Watch, it is important to note that Samsung watches primarily use the Samsung Health ecosystem for health and fitness tracking. However, it is possible to sync your data between Samsung Health and Google Fit, allowing your activity data recorded by your Samsung watch to be displayed in Google Fit. Here's how to do it:
Install Samsung Health and Google Fit
Make sure you have installed the Samsung Health app on your smartphone, as it is the default app used by Samsung Galaxy watches for health tracking.
Also install the Google Fit app on your smartphone if you haven't already.
1 - Via Health connect
To connect Samsung Health with Health Connect on your Android device, allowing you to share data between Samsung Health and other apps that use Health Connect (like Google Fit), follow these steps:
Check compatibility and updates
Make sure your device is running a version of Android compatible with Health Connect. Compatibility may vary, so check requirements on the Google Play Store or official announcements.
Update Samsung Health to the latest version available in the Google Play Store to ensure compatibility with Health Connect.
Install or update Health Connect
Download or update Health Connect by Android from the Google Play Store. If you already have Health Connect installed, make sure it is updated.
Open Health Connect
Launch the Health Connect app on your phone.
If this is your first time using Health Connect, agree to the terms and conditions, and follow the instructions to complete the initial setup, including granting the necessary permissions.
Connect Samsung Health to Health Connect
In Health Connect, search for Samsung Health in the list of available apps. Select Samsung Health to open data sharing options.
You will see a list of data types that Samsung Health can read or write through Health Connect (like steps, sleep, calories burned, etc.). Enable sharing for each type of data you want to sync with other apps through Health Connect.
Connect Google Fit to Health Connect
In Health Connect, look for Google Fit among the apps listed for data sharing. Select it to access data sharing options.
You'll see different categories of data that Google Fit can share or receive through Health Connect, such as step counts, calories burned, sleep, and more. Enable sharing for data types you want to sync with other apps through Health Connect.
Grant the necessary permissions
When you enable data sharing for Samsung Health in Health Connect, you will likely be redirected to the Samsung Health app to grant the necessary permissions. Accept these permissions to allow Health Connect to access your health data.
Check the connection
Once you've set up permissions in Samsung Health and Health Connect, your health data should be ready to share with other apps via Health Connect.
To check, you can open a Health Connect compatible app (like Google Fit) and see if it can access Samsung Health data.
Important notes
Data management: Be aware of the data you share between applications. Health Connect allows you to finely control what data is shared, but it is important to review these settings for your privacy and security.
Compatibility: Not all Samsung Health features may be available for syncing via Health Connect, depending on API limitations or Samsung's development choices.
If you have issues connecting Samsung Health with Health Connect, make sure all apps are properly updated and restart your device. If you have persistent issues, check Samsung Health Help and Support or Health Connect for specific solutions.
2 - Via Health sync
Sync Samsung Health with Google Fit
Direct synchronization between Samsung Health and Google Fit is not always available natively. You'll need to use a third-party app to bridge the two. A popular app for this is Health Sync . Here's how to use it:
Install Health Sync
Download and install the Health Sync app from the Google Play Store on your smartphone.
Set up Health Sync to sync Samsung Health with Google Fit
Open Health Sync and follow the instructions to connect Samsung Health and Google Fit. You'll likely need to give Health Sync permission to access your data in both apps.
Choose the data you want to sync from Samsung Health to Google Fit. This can include steps, exercise activities, sleep, and more.
Check the synchronization
After setting up Health Sync, your Samsung Galaxy Watch data should automatically sync to Samsung Health on your phone and then to Google Fit via Health Sync.
Open Google Fit to verify that your health and activity data appears as expected.
By following these steps, you should be able to use Google Fit with your Samsung Galaxy Watch to track your physical activity and health data, even though the two apps are in different ecosystems.
